Outlaw

The Resume

    (September 13, 1909-April 14, 1973)
    Born in Streator, Illinois
Mob loan shark, narcotics trafficker and enforcer
Known as the Marquis De Sade of the Mafia for his torture-murder techniques
Whacked by the Mob near his garage in Chicago at age 63

Why he might be annoying:

In the early '30s he was a member of the vicious Forty-Two Gang in Chicago, run by future mob boss Sam Giancana.
Between 1927-47, he spent several years in prison for rape, bank robbery and selling counterfeit sugar ration stamps.
He was a narcissus and sociopath that the mob just barely tolerated because he brought them lots of money.
He believed he was Satan's disciple and would pray to him regularly.
He hoped customers couldn't pay their loans (often at 25% per week) so he had a reason to torture them.
He built a torture chamber in his basement.
Some of his equipment included meat hooks, cattle prods and sledgehammers.
He had one victim severely burned on a radiator then forced his family to urinate on him.
He often frothed at the mouth during torture sessions.
Ordered to rub out his brother he did so without batting an eye, and when accused of the crime laughed hysterically (he was acquitted of the act).
After a fight with his wife he kidnapped a black man at gunpoint and forced him to have sex with her.
His courtroom antics included acting as his own lawyer, showing up in a wheelchair or stretcher, dressing in his pajamas and using a bullhorn to accent points.
Two shotgun blasts, one blowing an arm off and another hitting him square in the chest killed him instantly, which was more than some of his three-day torture victims were afforded.
FBI agent William F. Roemer, Jr. described him as the worst torture-murderer in the history of the U.S.

Why he might not be annoying:

Because of his mental instability the Mob would not consider making him a 'made man.'
One of his crew members ratted him out to the FBI and he got extra time tacked on for making a death threat.
He didn't go to prison for the offense because he was blown away before sentencing.
Nobody was ever tried for his murder.
