He was typecast in lowbrow comedies in the years immediately following 'Animal House.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He suffers from diabetes.
He slimmed down considerably to help fight his diabetic condition.
He was eventually able to live down his 'Animal House' image by appearing on 'St. Elsewhere.'
He has been reunited on screen with 'Animal House' co-stars on a few occasions.
