Why he might not be annoying:

He has portrayed God, Jesus, and Satan (not to mention an exorcist).
He convincingly played the elderly Father Merrin in 'The Exorcist,' even though he was only in his early forties at the time.
He doesn't believe in the supernatural, saying human evil is scary enough.
He scoffs at the idea of an 'Exorcist' curse.
As a teenager during World War II, he saw an American plane go down in his hometown, and helped the fire brigade rescue its crewmen.
After the war, he performed folk dances for concentration camp survivors.
He has a mild, pleasant personality.
He categorically denies ever shaving his armpits.
