Military Personnel
The Resume
(August 25, 1911- )
Joined the Vietnamese Communist Party (1934)
Commander and Chief of the Viet Minh forces fighting the French (1946)
Defeated colonial French forces at the Battle of Dien Bien Phu (1953)
Mastermind of the Tet Offensive (1968)
Why he might be annoying
He fought against American forces for Ho Chi Minh's North Vietnam.
He planned attacks on holidays, attacking the French on Christmas Eve and attacking US forces on the Vietnamese New Years (Tet) holiday.
When he attacked on Tet, he violated a general cease-fire that had been established the two previous years, when there was no fighting.
Most of his battles relied on loss of huge amounts of Vietnamese life.
He lost much more then he gained at Tet, and afterwards, the North Vietnamese felt defeated and were about to seek peace terms with South Vietnam; but it made such a huge impact on the media in the U.S. that it encouraged him to keep fighting.
He gave the United States their first defeat in their history.
Why he might not be annoying
He engaged his enemies' strong points as if they were exploitable weaknesses.
He managed to defeat two superior western nations, despite having inferior weapons and barely any air support.
Though he fought the Americans, he doesn't mind Americans or the American people.
He proved to the world the strength in willpower can always defeat the strength in weapons.
