Why she might be annoying:

She wrote a letter on behalf of Stewart Pearson, the son of one of her staffers, who had plead guilty to rape, asking the judge to show leniency (2003).
She later admitted she 'knew nothing' about the case and 'had no idea what the courts had found.'
She gave a guest pass to the 2006 State of the Union Address to Cindy Sheehan, who was arrested for wearing a T-shirt with a political message.
She voted against a resolution to recognize the importance of 'Christmas and the Christian faith' while voting for resolutions recognizing the start of Ramadan and Diwali (2007).

Why she might not be annoying:

She claimed to be the first former welfare mother elected to Congress.
She co-sponsored the Employment Non-Discrimination Act to prohibit discrimination in hiring and firing based on sexual orientation.
The San Jose Mercury News called her 'the unofficial matriarch of the anti-war movement in Congress.'
