Key figure during the Cold War
Why he might be annoying
He was extremely anti-communist.
When the Japanese invaded Manchuria during World War II, he ignored it and continued fighting with the Communists.
It was only when the Communists kidnapped him and forced him to unify with them against the Japanese when he finally decided to enter World War II.
Most of the aid he and Mao ZeDong received from the U.S. was saved for later use in their battles with one another after World War II.
When he was exiled from mainland China by Mao, he moved his government to the island of Taiwan where he would remain until his death in 1975.
During the Cold War, the United States didn't recognize the People's Republic of China as the official government and only maintained diplomatic relations with his Taiwanese government.
A few times he tried invading mainland China only to be brutally put down by the superior Communist forces.
He vowed on several occasions to re-unite China under his Nationalist government once again, but he never did.His name is hard to spell.
Why he might not be annoying
He tried to bring constitutional government to China, which is still being fought for to this day.
He aided in ridding China of feudal lords and bringing them into the 20th century.
He eventually aided in bringing down the Japanese Empire, by forcing them to keep needed troops garrisoned in Japanese colonial interests in China, thus taking pressure off the 'island-hopping' U.S. forces in the Pacific.
He was gracious to the United States for their support.
In the end, he was considered to be a better statesmen than Mao ZeDong.
When he died, he left behind a country which had a genuine democracy and a prosperous economy.
