Premise: Divorced father of three kids marries divorced mother of three children and their families try to blend together
    Set in Wisconsin

Why Step by Step might be annoying:

It ripped off the Brady Bunch!
It probably didn't help originality-wise that the mom's first name was the same as Carol Brady's.
The show is set in Wisconsin, yet in its opening credits the amusement park the family attended is actually Magic Mountain Park in California with a special effects-added lake beside it.
It had one of the corniest television theme songs ever.
It appeared on ABC's 'TGIF' Friday night block.
The same people who produced 'Full House' and 'Family Matters' created it.
For a family show, it contained a lot of sexual innuendo.
It started to focus more of its episodes on Cody, who was a 'Bill and Ted' wannabe.
When Sasha Mitchell, who played Cody, was fired due to domestic violence allegations, the show quickly went downhill.
It followed 'Family Matters' to CBS, where it suffered a quiet death.
Lily aged quickly in one season, mostly to say cutesy one-liners like Full House's Michelle.

Why Step by Step might not be annoying:

The show's name was a pun, kids were step-siblings to each other and that it took one step at a time to bring the blended family together.
It gave acting jobs to Patrick Duffy and Suzanne Somers, who previously were in two successful TV shows ('Dallas' and 'Three's Company').
Its producers listened to a focus group's findings and wrote out two minor characters.
It was more realistic than 'The Brady Bunch' with more step-sibling conflicts.
