Contestants who think they’re being judged on their looks alone are actually being graded on virtue (inner beauty); they do not learn the true premise of the show until eliminated

Why True Beauty might be annoying:

One producer’s pedigree is America’s Next Top Model.
Depending on the premiere date, its lead-in is either The Bachelor or Dancing with the Stars.
A second-season competitor was a cheerleader for the Dallas Mavericks.
Probably not surprisingly, many contestants leave the impression they care only about their appearances.

Why True Beauty might not be annoying:

One producer’s pedigree is Beauty and the Geek.
Not all of the contestants have jobs based on appearance.
Some of the contestants actually have a desire to be more than just a pretty face; others actually are honest about their true colors.
Unlike Survivor, whose seasons are normally five and seven months apart, it was more than a full year between the end of the first season and the start of the second season (May 2010).
Ironically, the first-season winner – the only contestant then to pass all eight virtue-based challenges – was a pageant queen!
