    He was a math prodigy.
    His breakout role off-Broadway was playing a time-traveling 20th-century playwright who befriends Gustav Mahler, in a production of 'Gus and Al.'
    Frank Rich reviewed his debut performance as an 'appealing, weary-eyed portrayal' and 'rueful hypersensitivity to the modern world.'
    He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in theater.

    He explained his love of theater by saying: '[It] makes you feel enveloped by it in a way that supports you and elevates you. It’s like a little cushion underneath to prevent us from crashing to the earth.'
