Why she might be annoying
She collected baseball cards.
When someone instructed her not to speak to the press, she would respond to their questions through sign language.
She and her husband had completely different personalities.
Her husband bought tons of expensive clothing for her.
Her husband planned most of the formal affairs usually left to the First Lady and all she was required to do was appear and look pretty.
The closest she came to speaking out on public policy was naming her collie after an alcoholic drink in protest of Prohibition.
She was a terrible cook.
She was a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan.
Why she might not be annoying
She was a teacher of deaf children at the Clark Institute.
She loved dogs.
She was beloved by the country and had very few critics.
She lost her 16 year old son to a blood infection.
She was invited into the Red Sox dugout during the 1925 World Series.
Her husband never consulted her on political matters.
She smoked but was careful never to be photographed smoking.
She supported causes that helped the disabled.
She was voted one of the twelve greatest American women (1931).
