Why he might be annoying:

    He was originally named Alexander, but his name was changed when his father accepted the Norwegian throne.
    He married a cousin, Princess Martha of Sweden.
    He was reluctant to let his son marry a commoner, Sonja Haraldsen.
    He did not actually meet Sonja until a year before she married Harald.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He served in Norway's government in exile during World War II.
    He won an Olympic gold medal for yachting.
    His wife died in 1954, before she could become queen of Norway.
    He took public transportation when Norway was faced with an energy crisis.
    He was much loved by the Norwegian people.
