The Resume

    (November 30, 1957- )
    Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan
    Birth name was Margaret Dudar
US Secretary of Education (2005- )

Why she might be annoying:

She threatened to cut Education Department funding for PBS programs if the network ran an episode of 'Postcards from Buster' in which Buster goes to Vermont and encounters a family headed by a lesbian couple.
She said that the No Child Left Behind program -- widely criticized for encouraging 'teaching to the test' and for not being fully funded -- is 'like Ivory Soap. It's 99.9% pure. There's not much needed in the way of change.'
She endorsed single-sex schools shortly after a Department of Education review found no evidence that single-sex education resulted in improvements in any aspect of education.
She complained about how hard it is to find basic information about colleges, even though the information is available at the College Opportunities Online Locater on the Department of Education website.
She went on Celebrity Jeopardy and lost to a member of Spinal Tap.

Why she might not be annoying:

When they were both single, Karl Rove asked her out on a date and she turned him down.
Asked on C-SPAN to comment on census data showing a decline in traditional families, she replied, 'So what?' adding there are 'lots of different types of family.'
She was the first Education Secretary to be a mother of school-aged children.
She was the first sitting member of the Bush administration to appear on The Daily Show (May 22, 2007).
