Why he might be annoying:

He got his nickname because he used to wear his hair in braids like the Little Rascals character Buckwheat.
Ironically he disliked zydeco music when young, considering it old-fashioned.
He did not learn to play his signature instrument, the accordion, until he was 30.
Zydeco purists fault him for being too commercial.
His popularity waned in the 90s.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the first zydeco performer to sign with a major label and is the most commercially successful zydeco musician of all time.
He and his 11 siblings grew up in a two room house.
He was a piano prodigy by age four.
He would sneak into Fats Domino concerts as a child.
Bill Clinton and Al Gore are fans.
He has a recipe in ‘The Tabasco Sauce Cookbook.’
