Why he might be annoying:

He's the son of somebody who was already famous.
Much like 'In Da Gadda Da Vidda' or 'Rapper Delight,' his song 'Alice's Restaurant' takes up the entire side of the album.
'Alice's Restaurant,' is a long rambling story about him committing the crimes of littering and draft dodging.
Like his father he wrote and recorded protest songs.
His target audience is hippies.
His website's (www.arlo.net) tagline is 'The Home of Everybody's Favorite Folk Singer!'

Why he might not be annoying:

He grew up surrounded by many of his dad's folk singing friends.
Famous folk musicians like The Weavers and Leadbelly influenced him.
He preformed at the original Woodstock.
He sings many traditional folk songs.
His 'Motorcycle Song' was featured in one of those funny dubbed over 'GI Joe' PSAs.
He raises money for Huntington's, the illness that his father and many other members of his family suffered and died from.
He bought the old church that the real Alice who owned the restaurant, lived in and turned it into an inter-faith center (1991).
His debut album sold more copies that any of his father's recordings.
