Why they might be annoying
Its name confuses many casual American sports fans.
It's 'real' is Spanish for 'royal' and is not pronounced like the English 'real.' (pronounced RAY'-al)
The name basically is a rip-off of the Spanish powerhouse club 'Real Madrid.'
Utah residents complained about how the name doesn't reflect their area (similar to the Utah Jazz).
They only won five games in their inaugural season.
Why they might not be annoying
Owner Dave Checketts explained, 'I wanted a soccer name. I wanted to make sure that when people heard it around the country they knew that it was soccer.'
It is located in a city known for its high youth soccer participation rate.
One of their first players was Jason Kreis, the first to score 100 career Major League Soccer goals.
Their original stadium was the home of the 2002 Winter Olympic opening ceremonies.
It could've been worse; they could've called themselves 'Fake Salt Lake.'
