He changed his German surname to his manager's (and later changed it again to 'Doll').
He lived with his sisters most of his adult life.
His film roles often required him to dress like a baby.
He repeated the role of Tweedledee in the inferior remake of 'The Unholy Three.'
He is often incomprehensible in his sound pictures.
His sister Frieda (who played his fiancee in 'Freaks') was sometimes mistaken for his wife.

Three of his six siblings were also little people (and successful circus performers).
He performed in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show.
He was good friends with director Tod Browning.
He was obliged to return to sideshow performing in the 1930's when movie roles became scarce.
The house he shared with his sisters (with furniture made to scale) was often featured in magazines.
He represented the Lollipop Guild in 'The Wizard of Oz.'
