The Resume

    (June 11, 1968- )
    Born in Leeds, United Kingdom
    English science fiction author
Most well known for her Quantum Gravity science fiction series of novels
    Attended the University of York

Why she might be annoying:

She got a late start as a writer, not being published until she was in her thirties.
She has won no major awards for her work.
None of her work has been filmed.
The titles of her books have nothing to do with what the books are actually about.
    The critics like her.

Why she might not be annoying:

She is one of the most inventive and original science fiction writers of all time.
Example: The Quantum Gravity series is about (among other things) a female cyborg who is still in love with her late husband, a demon and with an elf in a rock and roll band.
Her work has been described thusly; 'Tolkien, had he gone electric, dropped acid, and discovered tantric sex' and 'SF for the Wii gamer.'
She writes for a young forward looking technically hip crowd that the rest of SF has not caught up with yet, combining anime, manga and gaming with hard and speculative science, and elements of traditional science fiction and fantasy.
She had to work as a secretary, technical writer and fitness instructor before being published.
She's a respected book and game reviewer.
