Actress
    (February 19, 1897-January 22, 1931)
Acted in ‘Reggie Mixes in (1916),' ‘The Half-Breed (1916),' ‘The Firefly of Tough Luck (1917),' ‘The Price She Paid (1924),' ‘Show Boat (1929)' and ‘She Goes to War (1929)'
She destroyed her health and career with alcohol and heroin.
Her first marriage lasted only a few weeks, her second, a few months.
She was arrested several times for possession.
She was also arrested twice for disorderly conduct.
One of her films, ‘The Mystery of the Leaping Fish,' ironically mocks drug addiction.
She was one of the silent era's biggest stars by age 19.
She may have become an addict because she was prescribed narcotics when ill.
One of her drug arrests might have been a frame-up.
At the time of her death, her third husband Richard Cortez had virtually abandoned her.
Despite her problems, she kept making well received films.
