Why they might be annoying:

Despite what their name implies, they are not a duo and no one in the band is named either Belle or Sebastian.
Arab Strap was less than thrilled with their name being used for 'The Boy with the Arab Strap,' with Malcolm Middleton saying 'We're friends with them, but there's a limit to putting someone else's name on an album. They’re taking away something from us.'
They won a Brit Award for Best British Newcomer three years after their debut album (1999).
The songs on 'Storytelling' were written as a soundtrack for a Todd Solondz film, but only six minutes of their music was ultimately used.

Why they might not be annoying:

They recorded their debut album as a final project for Murdoch's college course in music business.
They became a full-time band after 'Tigermilk' became an unexpected sensation, with copies selling for as much as 500 pounds.
Their songs have been featured in the films 'High Fidelity,' 'The Devil Wears Prada' and 'Juno.'
They were voted Scotland's greatest band in a poll by the entertainment magazine 'The List' (2005).
