    Winner of the Eisner Award in 1991, 1997, and 2002 and the World Fantasy Award in 1991 and 1999
    BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University
    Book length works include 'The Books of Faerie,' 'Sandman,' and 'The Books of Magic'

Why he might be annoying:

    His middle name is Dana.
    There has been a marked and inexplicable drop off in the quality and quantity of his work since the nineties.
    He illustrated the 'official' comic book adaption of Steven Spielberg's movie 'Hook.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    He wrote his first comic book, 'Atomic Man,' at age ten.
    His work has appeared in a wide variety of publications including Heavy Metal, National Lampoon, and Marvel comics.
    He works with many different materials including ink, oil, and watercolors.
    His work during the nineties was incredible.
    His Sandman #19 won the 1991 World Fantasy Award for best short story. The first comic book to do this, it led to a rules change removing comic books from eligibility.
