Why he might be annoying:

He had a whopping eleven kids.
He led a brief surge of interest in Calvinist doctrine during the 1740's.
Despite being known as a fire and brimstone preacher, he was actually very monotone.
He said that God's wrath is always holding your soul directly over the 'pit of Hell.'
The objective of his sermons was to scare the crap out of everyone.
He reportedly made listeners sob, convulse, and plead desperately for forgiveness.
He only allowed people into his church that were completely convinced of his word.

Why he might not be annoying:

He entered Yale when he was only thirteen years old, and graduated at the top of his class.
His popularity as a preacher was short-lived.
He died from side effects of a smallpox vaccination (1758).
He kicked the bucket only a month after becoming president of Princeton.
