U.S. Congressman

The Resume

    (November 23, 1953- )
    Born in Detroit, Michigan
Birth name is Deborah Ann Insley
Represents Michigan's 12th congressional district (first elected in 2014)
Second wife of Congressman John Dingell (1981-2019)

Why she might be annoying:

She married a Congressman 27 years her senior.
She changed her registration from Republican to Democrat the year she married John.
She won her husband's Congressional seat after his retirement (the seat was originally held by his own father).
She is the first woman to succeed a living husband in Congress.
She struggled to name any foreign policy accomplishments by Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State in a clip that went viral (2016).
She came to national attention mainly after President Trump - angry over her support for impeachment - jokingly suggested that her husband might be 'looking up' (i.e. from Hell) while speaking at a rally (2019).

Why she might not be annoying:

She is active in several Michigan and Washington, D.C., charities.
She is a 1975 graduate of the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
She worked as a consultant to the American Automobile Policy Council.
She was publicly widowed in-office after thirty eight years of marriage.
She introduced the Consumer Product Safety Commission the authority to recall defective firearms.
She took the high road after Trump's attack on her late husband, saying: 'It’s time to put politics aside on these kind of shots. I try to be respectful of everybody. I’ve never taken a personal shot at this president. I think his family is off-limits [and] my family is still hurting ... I don't want to get into this tit-for-tat.'
