He and then partner, Jimmy the Greek fist fought at a New York Nightclub over their air time and who gets to do what.
He was let go by CBS on April Fools Day in 1990. Talk about bad luck! His last CBS assignment was the 1990 final four.
Why he might not be annoying
CNN/SI's Stewart Mandel selected him the second best college football sportscaster behind Ron Franklin.
Mandel said 'his voice will always be associated with some of the sport's most memorable modern moments.'
He has a down home manner of speaking, addressing his viewers as 'folks' or 'partner.'
He has covered the NBA Finals and Superbowl.
He attended Northwestern University - Evanston.
He appeared in a segment on 'Saturday Night Live' (January 30, 1982).
