    Stage assistant for magician Harry Houdini (1925-26)
    Featured in 'The Radio Girl of 1950': a large mock radio would be brought on stage; Houdini would open it up to show no one was inside; the radio would be closed back up; Houdini would fiddle with the dials to tune in a station then lift the lid; Young would jump out and dance the Charleston
    Appeared on Broadway in 'Jamegan' (1928), 'Conquest' (1933) and 'New Faces of 1936' (1936)
    Appeared in the film 'Flying Down to Rio' (1933)
    Formed a Latin dance team with husband Gilbert Kiamie
    During a family trip to New York, she snuck off behind her parents' backs to audition for Houdini's show.
    She could not eat before the show in order to fit inside the prop radio.
    She said, 'Houdini is what most people want to hear about. It was a wonderful time, but remember, I only spent a year with him.'
    She appeared at several Houdini séances.
    While working as a model, her legs were passed off as those of Gloria Swanson.
    She was also a painter and an author, with one of her novels, 'Dancing on a Dime,' made into a film by Paramount Studios in 1940.
    She donated $30 million to Drew University to build the Dorothy Young Center for the Arts.
    From backstage, she got a full view of how Houdini escaped from the famed Water Torture Cell, but she never revealed the secret.
