The Resume

    (1928- )
Icon for Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) movie studios
Original Leo was portrayed by Slats
    Slats died about 1936
    Original trainer was Volney Phifer
Jackie, Tanner and Jackie II all portrayed Leo

Why he might be annoying:

The live lion was replaced by a stylized graphic.
Kirk Kerkovian purchased MGM and basically raped the studio by selling off memorabilia and acres of studio lots to build the MGM Grand hotel in Las Vegas.
By 1979, MGM was primarily a hotel business and stopped filming movies.
MGM and United Artists' film libraries were purchased by Ted Turner.
Turner caused controversy among film purists when he began colorizing the library of films (Bruce likes colorized films, Marc hates them).
Leo the lion's logo was removed from the studios property (1986).

Why he might not be annoying:

Leo is trained to turn his head and roar on command.
The circular frame around Leo's head says 'Ars Gratia Artis (Art For Art's Sake).'
