Most well known for fighting for Christian unity and against anti-semitism
Wrote 'Jesus the Christ,' 'Sacrament of Unity: The Eucharist and the Church' and 'An Introduction to the Christian Faith'
Why he might be annoying
He writes in a very dry technical fashion.
He disagrees with his own church's teaching on divorce and remarriage.
In his ecumenical efforts, he glosses over even serious disagreements in order to arrive at a consensus.
Why he might not be annoying
He has spent much of his adult life trying to improve relations between the Catholic Church and other religions especially, Judaism.
He taught and became the dean of students at two separate universities; The University of Tubingen and the University of Munster.
He's fluent in English, German, Italian, Greek and Latin.
He's frigging brilliant!
