Warner Bros. Records dumped her after she recorded two albums with them.
Her later ’Ally McBeal’ theme albums received horrible critical recognition.
She refused to release her music rights which delayed the DVD production of 'Ally McBeal.'
Why she might not be annoying
Her parents split up when she was young.
She was born in New York City.
She was a music prodigy.
As a teenager, she was an expert at piano and studied voice. She even recorded some songs as young as twelve years old.
After being dumped by her label, she extensively performed in the Los Angeles small club circuit.
Her years performing in the Los Angeles club circuit garnered her a cult following.
David E. Kelley and Michelle Pfeiffer were catching one of her performances when Kelley felt her voice and style fit the style of ‘Ally McBeal,’ a series he produced.
Her music and appearances in ’Ally McBeal’ revived her career.
The series also gave her acting credits.
After her appearances on ’Ally McBeal,’ most of her albums and singles landed in high positions of the Billboard charts.
