They were together just 5 years.
Morrissey and Marr wanted to take the band in different directions, which lead to them breaking up.
They more then likely will never reunite.
Morrissey would often perform with gladiolas in his back pocket.
Andy Rourke is the only one that list 'The Smiths' as one of his favorite bands.
'Reel around the Fountain' is often said to condone child abuse, they deny it.
Mike Joyce sued Morrissey and Marr in 1996 because he wasn't getting enough money from the sales.

they are one of the most influential bands of the 80s.
Many consider them to be the best band to come out of the UK in the 80s.
They still have a large cult following.
They choose the name 'The Smiths' because they wanted more focus on their music then their name.
The song 'Cemetery Gates' is about plagiarism.
Their song 'Asleep' is featured in the book 'Perks of being a Wallflower.'
Andy Rourke left the band because of drug addiction, later they let him back in.
In 1987 a fan of theirs held up a radio station with a gun and demanded they play 5 hours of Smiths songs.
They were used as a question on Jeopardy.
The cult movie 'The Leathers Boys' is showcased in the music video for 'Girlfriend in a Coma.'
Their fans include: Bono, JK Rowling, and Coldplay's Chris Martin and Oasis.
