People think his name is 'Dave Osborne' because of his alter-ego.
He is basically a one-trick-pony known exclusively as Super Dave (and many don't even realize it is a character).
Due to the popularity of his character many people believe he is actually accident prone.
His jokes as 'Super Dave' come at his own expense.
His character of Officer Judy on 'The Smother's Brothers' Show' is long forgotten.

He is a dead pan comedian, who keeps a straight face while others are laughing around him.
He is much smarter than his 'Super Dave' persona would indicate.
His 'Super Dave' stunts are all fake (as if you didn't know that).
'Super Dave Osborne' has entertained people for over twenty years.
