His band, 'The Robert Cray Band,' has had a lot of membership changes.
Many blues purists don't like his style, feeling it's too modern.

He was part of the blues revival of the 80's.
He has collaborated with many musicians including Johnny Rivers, David Sanborn, Eric Clapton and John Lee Hooker.
His 1986 album 'Strong Persuader' and its hit 'Smoking Gun' helped launch him into the mainstream.
He has two signature Stratocaster models from Fender.
His music has won many Grammys.
