Why he might be annoying
His nickname is 'The Japanese Walt Disney' which he hates.
He is credited with writing his films but they are actually just bits and pieces of old American films.
He usually incorporates themes such as flying characters, children, magic and pollution into his films.
He is very critical of American animated films, saying in a recent interview that they lack decency.
He said 'Beauty and the Beast' reminded him of 'a psychiatric patient and his counsellor.'
Why he might not be annoying

Before 'Titanic' and 'Spirited Away,' his film 'Princess Mononoke' was the all-time highest grossing film in Japan.
Apart from directing and writing he also helps with the actual animation process.
In what was originally going to be his last film, Hayao personally redrew/corrected an unprecedented 55% of the animation cells for the final cut of 'Princess Mononoke.'
