He tried smoking, even when he knew it was worse for him because he had AIDS.

He unwittingly contracted AIDS from a blood transfusion used to treat his hemophilia.
He put a face to AIDS and used his illness to educate people about the disease.
He always strived to be cheerful and happy, despite his fatal illness.
He faced discrimination because of his illness and was eventually driven out of his town.
He won many awards for his work with AIDS functions and charities.
He got to meet many celebrities through his work with AIDS functions, including Michael Jackson.
He collected comic books.
