    American science fiction author
    Books include The Disappearing Dwarf, Homunculus and All the Bells on Earth
    Graduated from Cal State Fullerton and teaches at Chapman University
    Created fictional poet William Ashbless with friend and co-writer Tim Powers

Why he might be annoying:

    Almost all of books are either fantasy tales set in his native southern California or steampunk set in Victorian England.
    He has written less than a dozen short stories.
    Most of his works are published as trilogies even if they aren't actually sequels to one another.
    None of his work has ever been filmed.
    He looks a little bit like former porn star John Holmes.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He doesn't take himself or his work too seriously.
    He's one of those rare creatures that can do and teach.
    He loves bragging about his wife and children.
    He once said, 'We're living in an age now where people can say anything they want; sometimes we wish they'd shut up.'
