After seeing Star Wars he was quoted as saying 'A special effect is as big a star as any in the world.'
He made a film called 'The Gay Knights.'
He portrayed a homeless man in his film 'The War of the Worlds.'

He made epic films which were often set on a global stage.
He provided a forum for wizards of the industry such as Willis O'Brien, Ray Harryhausen Wah Chang and Gene Warren to show their talent.
