Spent the rest of his life in the Government Hospital for the Insane (1835-1861)
Found not guilty of the crime by reason of insanity (April 1835)
Attempted to kill President Andrew Jackson (January 30, 1835)

Why he might be annoying:

He became convinced that he was King Richard III and President Jackson was preventing him from taking his rightful place on the throne.
He also blamed Jackson for killing his father in 1832, even though his dad had actually died in 1823.
He assaulted Jackson with two pistols after a funeral service at the U.S. Capitol Building.
Both of Lawrence's one-shot pistols misfired before he was subdued by the crowd.
He became the first person to attempt to assassinate an American president.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was insane.
He worked as a painter and constant exposure the chemicals in the paint may have caused his lunacy.
His attack led to better protection for the president.
The chances that both of his pistols would misfire in a row was set at 125,000 to 1.
