The Resume

    (October 21, 1962-December 17, 2022)
    Reporter and Political Analyst
CNN News Political Correspondent (2004- )
Investigative reporter for CBS 2 News in Los Angeles for 10 years
Peabody Award recipient for 'Crisis at the VA' (2014)
Regular contributor for Anderson Cooper 360 and CNN Newsroom

Why he might be annoying:

    He's into ambush journalism tactics.
    He sounds like Fred Willard.
He was accused of misrepresenting Barack Obama's ties to ACORN and voter fraud during a CNN take-down segment.
Google searches tend to turn up content related to the other Griffin (formerly) affiliated with CNN - incidentally of no relation.
He conducted a contentious interview with then-Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, in which he misquoted a National Review article characterizing her as 'incompetent, stupid, unqualified, corrupt, or all of the above' (October, 2008).
When she pushed back, asking the name of the author, he admitted to forgetting (it was actually a favorable piece by Byron York). The blowback was substantial enough for him to issue a correction later the same day, with an apology to the National Review.
He and his crew were accused of staging a rescue during coverage of Hurricane Harvey, after they rushed to rescue a man who accidentally drove a truck into a flooded ravine while cameras were rolling (August 30, 2017).

Why he might not be annoying:

Snopes declared the charge that he and his team 'staged a rescue' to be 'False.'
He won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for exposing fraudulent soliciting at Los Angeles International Airport.
He covered the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and his reports on New Orleans police looting and nursing home deaths prompted state investigations (2005).
He won three Emmy Awards, in consecutive years, for his investigative reporting (2005-07).
He won the National Press Foundation's Dirksen McKinley award for his series of 'Congress for Sale' expose on SuperPAC campaign funding (2014).
Mediaite.com named him as one of the Top 9 Rising Stars of Cable News (2014).
He led the investigative reporting team which broke the Veterans Affairs scandal.
His relentlessness in exposing the truth that veterans were waiting months for care at VA facilities - sometimes dying during the period - even extended to vocally criticizing the Obama administration for its inaction.
He deals in the heavy lifting of nonpartisan 'investigative reporting,' and avoids the petty bickering generally associated with political punditry.
