The Resume

    (July 28, 1988- )
    Born in Millington, Tennessee
Birth name is Gregory McKarl Hardy
Defensive End for the Dallas Cowboys (2015 - )
Played pass rusher for the University of Mississippi
Selected by the Carolina Panthers in the 6th Round of the 2010 NFL Draft
Found guilty of assaulting a female (ex-girlfriend, Nicole Holder) and communicating threats; sentenced to 18 months probation, suspending a 60-day jail sentence (Jul. 15, 2014)
Suspended for 10 games by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, after the league's 2-month long investigation (Apr. 22, 2015)
Domestic violence charges against him were expunged from the record after Holder failed to appear to testify (Nov. 5, 2015)

Why he might be annoying:

His perpetual lateness lowered his initially promising draft stock for 2010.
He bragged that he would 'dominate' LeBron James in a one-on-one basketball game.
He has been known to physically engage his teammates during disagreements.
He was fined for a roughing the passer penalty against RG3 (2012).
He sparked controversy after making inappropriate comments about Tom Brady's wife.
He expressed his intention to stop Eli Manning's offensive strategy by 'hitting him in the mouth.'
He came under fire after a questionable tweet referencing the Twin Towers and the Carolina Panthers.
His being signed by the Dallas Cowboys reignited the national outcry about the League condoning domestic abuse.
He was accused of repeatedly threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend.
Other charges detailed him attempting to strangle her and throwing her into a bathtub. Did we mention he calls himself 'The Kraken?'
His disturbing tendency to nonchalantly make light of the charges got him labelled an unrepentant sociopath.
When he had his case moved to a Jury trial, Holder refused to show up for unspecified reasons.
Rumors were abound as to why she didn't show, with any number of theories being presented (he paid her off, she was too terrified to face him, etc.)
When the charges against him were expunged, graphic photographs soon after emerged showing bruises and markings, allegedly, inflicted by him (resulting in renewed calls for him to be banned from the NFL).

Why he might not be annoying:

He's a World of Warcraft fan.
He earned letters in High School for both Track/Field (shock putter, sprints) and Basketball.
    He was a three-time All-American at 'Ole Miss' University (2007 - 2009).
He's also an aspiring rapper (appropriately - presciently - devoting a song to being mistaken for a Schizophrenic).
He sustained serious injuries after crashing his motorcycle into an 18-wheeler on a Tennessee interstate.
He was named to both the 2013 Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro, in which he recorded a career high 15 sacks (as of 2015, still the Panthers franchise record).
He was depicted as a club-wielding Neanderthal in a caveman getup by a Philadelphia cartoonist.
Many raised concerns that, while the charges against Hardy were serious, that there was no comparable call for Johnny Manziel, who faced similar accusations, to be blacklisted from the NFL.
Those who condemned his behavior generally found Jerry Jones to be at fault, if not more, for tolerating it in the first place.
There were predictable, racially charged, attempts to inject him into the #DeflateGate controversy by arguing that he was yet one more black footballer to get away with domestic abuse while the book was thrown at Tom Brady over a comparably slight offense.
This despite the fact that he received a 10-game suspension to Brady's 4-Game suspension, long before the 'deflate' controversy had ever even taken form (he played only one game the entire 2014 season).
