    Won Bronze Medal in 1956 Olympics for relay

    Coached Track at DePauw University
    Served as U.S. Goodwill Ambassador to French West Africa

    She was divorced twice.
    She took a year off from getting her Bachelor's degree just so she could make personal appearances.
    She had to wear leg braces as a child.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She is the first U.S. female to win three Olympic gold medals in Track & Field.
    She grew up in a poor family of twenty-one.
    She overcame polio, double pneumonia and scarlet fever as a child to become one of the greatest runners in history.
    She almost lost use of her left leg from polio effects when she was four.
    She never lost a race in her high school track career.
    She fought against segregation in her home state of Tennessee when Gov. Buford Ellington was going to plan segregated celebrations in her home town.
    Soon after her Olympic triumphs, she taught at her childhood elementary school.
    She created the Wilma Rudolph Foundation, a non-profit amateur sports program.
    She ranked #41 in ESPN's SportsCentury Top Athletes of the 20th Century.
