Why he might be annoying:

He served two months in jail after being caught stealing and re-selling carpets from the home furnishing store where he worked (1960).
He went bankrupt after an unsuccessful attempt to expand his nightclubs to America (1992).
He claimed to have slept with over 2,000 women.
He has been divorced twice.
His third wife is two decades younger than his daughter.
One journalist's assessment of the result of his facelift: 'He thinks he doesn't look 61 and he is probably right - on the other hand, you would have to be 61 to want to look like this.'
He said about the women at his clubs, 'My girls are entertainers, they are not strippers.' (Non-stripper entertainers who just happen to be dancing naked or twirling about poles in just a g-string.)

Why he might not be annoying:

He is a generous tipper.
The London Evening Standard said of his clubs, 'It's frankly as classy as a lap dancing club can get.... It certainly seems more harmless than sleazy.'
He noted that when Stephen Hawking visited Stringfellows, 'I wanted to talk to Stephen about the universe -- but he was more interested in the girls.'
He said, 'Because of what I do, people assume I am out partying every night but nothing could be further from the truth. I am at my happiest enjoying a quiet evening at home and cooking a romantic meal for my wonderful wife.'
