Why he might be annoying:

He was disqualified from his first NASCAR race after officials discovered that he had lied about his age.
He appeared as himself in two Dukes of Hazard episodes.
He was a Republican but changed his registration to Democrat so he could campaign for Jimmy Carter.
He kept a lion cub and a bear cub as pets, until they got too big and he gave them to a zoo.
He got into a televised fistfight with Bobby Allison following a last-lap collision with Bobby's brother Donnie during the 1979 Daytona 500.

Why he might not be annoying:

He used to wrestle alligators, so taking on the Allison brothers probably wasn't too big a challenge.
He answered his own fan mail and never turned down an invitation from one of his fan clubs.
He was the first driver to qualify for Daytona with a speed of over 200 miles per hour (1984).
Fellow NASCAR driver Junior Johnson said, 'Cale Yarborough is the best driver the sport has ever seen. When you strap Cale into the car, it's like adding 20 horsepower.'
