(April 21, 1900-September 27, 1953)
Born in Bochum, Germany
Head of the Radio Division of the Propaganda Ministry of the Third Reich (1942-45)
Found not guilty of crimes against humanity at the Nuremburg Trials
Why he might be annoying
He left college without a degree.
He produced propaganda for the Nazis.
He called Nuremburg a 'completely false trial.'
He claimed, 'Of all the defendants, I was the only idealist.'
Why he might not be annoying
He twice tried to stop publication of Julius Streicher's anti-Semitic newspaper 'Der Sturmer.'
He seems to have been tried at Nuremburg mostly as a substitute for the dead Joseph Goebbels.
He said, 'I have no hesitation to state very clearly that Hitler was a liar and a betrayer on a massive scale. Even without the death of the five million extermination camp victims, Hitler would still go down in history as the greatest villain who ever lived.'
