    Conspiracy buffs believe she was 'offed' due to her research into the Kennedy assassination.
    She was the first media personality to charge a conspiracy killed JFK.
    Her reporting helped acquit Dr. Sam Sheppard in the murder of his wife. Sheppard had been wrongly accused of the crime.
    She died in her apartment of a drug and alcohol overdose (1965).
