Why he might be annoying:

He gets to deliver messages to mankind whenever God is too lazy to get off the couch.
In fact, why would an all-powerful God need a message relayer at all?
He is sometimes called 'The Left Hand of God' (in other words, he was political).
He had the unpleasant task of informing a newly-married teenager that she had secretly impregnated by a benevolent deity (surprise!).
He may have helped destroy the cities of Sodom and Gommorah for being too 'sinful.'
Some think that he will blow a giant horn that signals the beginning of the Apocalypse.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a great public speaker.
He can fly.
Islam refers to him as the voice of truth.
Some believe that he has a horse named Haizum.
He was able to convince Mary of her divine mission without giving her a mental breakdown.
If God wants to tell you something, but doesn't want to see your disgusting acne, Gabriel may pay you a visit instead.
