Portrayed the title role in 'Zorro' (1957-59), Will Cartwright in 'Bonanza' (1964) and Professor John Robinson in 'Lost in Space' (1965-68)
Appeared in the films 'Bonzo Goes to College' (1952), 'The Mississippi Gambler' (1953), 'I Was a Teenage Werewolf' (1957), 'Damon and Pythias' (1962) and 'Captain Sinbad' (1963)

Why he might be annoying:

As a model, he appeared in cigarette ads.
He said of his early acting roles, 'I used to play anonymous men leaning in doorways with cigarettes dangling from their lips. There were times when I seriously doubted if I were cut out for this business.'
He was originally set to replace Pernell Roberts as one of the leads in 'Bonanza,' but Roberts unexpectedly decided to stay for an extra season.
A 'Lost in Space' director said, 'This man is more interested in his hair than his performance.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He was thrown from a horse and dragged 200 yards, leaving a long scar on his left shoulder.
He did his own fencing in 'Zorro,' having learned the sport from his father at age seven.
He said of acting, 'Getting paid for having fun is one of the best occupations I know of.'
He invested wisely, and after "Lost in Space' went off the air, retired comfortably, splitting his time between Argentina and California.
