Why he might be annoying:

    He is often deliberately confrontational, writing in 'The Dinosaur Heresies,' 'I'd be disappointed if this book didn't make some people angry.'
    He has been married and divorced four times.
    He said, 'I want to be the Bob De Niro of the Jurassic.... If I am studying Camptosaurus, I want to feel like Camptosaurus.'
    His beard resembles a tumbleweed.

Why he might not be annoying:

    Many of his 'heresies' became part of mainstream paleontology.
    He expresses his theories in plain English, commenting 'I am really against jargon - absolutely against. It's often a smokescreen for sloppy thinking.'
    He is a Pentecostal Christian who enthusiastically embraces evolution.
    He said, 'I want to find a voracious, small-minded predator and name it after the IRS.'
