Why he might be annoying
With 1.4 seconds left in a playoff game, he and his former teammate, Larry Johnson (NY Knicks), got into a fist fight. Both players were suspended from the fifth and deciding game.
A comedic moment of that fight was NY Knick coach Jeff Van Gundy in an effort to separate the combatants ended up on Mournings leg and was dragged around the court (April 30, 1998).
He ranked 8th in Sports Illustrated most trash talker (1997).
During practice, teammates Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson heckled him for finishing last in a drill, almost inciting a fist fight between Mourning and Martin (November 20, 2003).
Why he might not be annoying
He was the first person in sports to break the $100 million salary deal ($112 million for seven year - 1996).
In college, he testified against a drug dealer.
His parents divorced when he was twelve and he was place in a foster home.
He received a degree in Sociology from Georgetown.
