Why he might be annoying
He fought for Germany in World War I.
He spent the majority of his philosophical career as a Logical Positivist, holding that the only propositions that have any meaning are a priori or an observation sentence. Therefore ethics, theology, metaphysics, etc. are all meaningless.
He was a philosopher who thought that philosophy should take a back seat to science.
His name is dangerous if you are driving.

Why he might not be annoying
After Logical Positivism collapsed in upon itself, he regained his sanity and began writing real philosophy again.
His chief influences were Gottlo Frege, Bertrand Russell and Ludwig Wittgenstein.
He was a great influence on W.V.O. Quine.
As a student, he studied relativity theory under Albert Einstein.
He fled Germany in 1935 because of the Nazis.
