The Resume
(December 15, 1954- )
Governor of Virginia (2002-06)
US Senator (2009- )
Why he might be annoying
In 1996, he ran against a Republican senator with the same last name.
To help Democrats try to remember who they were voting for, they used the slogan 'Mark, Not John.'
He spent millions of his own money to run for Governor of Virginia.
Because he is a governor in a southern state, many Democrats feel that he may be a good presidential candidate.
Even though he is a southern Democrat, he was raised in Connecticut, where George W. Bush was born.
Why he might not be annoying
He took Virginia from a deficit to having a surplus.
He is a moderate Democrat, not a liberal.
He is fiscally conservative (balancing the budget).
He is the chairman of the National Governors' Association.
He graduated Harvard Law.
