Conservative fans of 'The McLaughlin Group' despise her, calling her 'shrew,' 'wicked witch,' and 'Eleanor Rodham Clifton.'
Her jokes are sometimes strained.
During the 1992 election race, she raved about how physically attractive Bill Clinton and Al Gore were, calling theirs 'the all-beefcake ticket.'
She defended some of the worst excesses of the Clinton White House.
Why she might not be annoying
She is often outnumbered by conservatives on 'The McLaughlin Group.'
She is usually respectful to her political foes (even Pat Buchanan).
Those who complain about her opinions often do so in a sexist way.
She began her career as a secretary at 'Newsweek,' and became one of the magazine's first female reporters.
She wrote a book about the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.
