Why he might be annoying:

    His name sounds too close to that of Kevin Pillar's
    He was a replacement player during the 1995 spring training, which caused him to be banned from joining the MLBPA.
    As a consequence, his likeness was omitted from the Red Sox World Series championship commemorative merchandise.
    He initially was supposed to play for the Chunichi Dragons after the Marlins sold his contract, but never got the opportunity as the Red Sox put a waiver claim in to acquire him.
    He was caught on camera during Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS telling teammates and reporters he didn't want the Sox to win the game.
    He came out of retirement twice to play two brief stints with the St. Paul Saints (2010 and 2017).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was an integral part of the resurgence of the baseball program at Lamar University during the early 1990's.
    He set a minor league record for consecutive games making it on base safely.
    He was considered the key cog in the Red Sox lineup during the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
    He coined the term 'Cowboy Up' and referred to his teammates as 'idiots' as a way to keep the clubhouse loose.
    He was a member of the Red Sox team that ended an 86 year championship drought (2004).
    He clarified his comment about the Sox losing was in jest as it was intended that the team would have both Pedro Martinez and Curt Schilling available in Games 5 and 6.
